Bangladesh sees 22% increase in cement export revenue

Bangladesh has reported a 21.79 percent YoY increase in revenue from cement exports in the 10MFY21-22 (July 2021-April 2022). Revenue for the period came in at US$7.77m, compared to US$6.38m in the same period a year earlier. This figure also includes minor quantities of salt, stone, and other related products, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data.

During the last fiscal year (July 2020-July 2021), Bangladesh’s cement industry earned export revenue of US$7.26m, down 20.6 percent on the US$9.14m seen in the same period a year earlier. The country currently exports cement to India, Myanmar, Nepal, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.

Premier Cement wins National Productivity Award

Premier Cement Mills Limited has won the “National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award 2020”.

The company has been recognized for being the first in the large industrial category on Sunday (29 May), said a press release.

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun handed over the award to Premier Cement Managing Director Mohammad Amirul Haque.

New AMD for Shun Shing Group Hong Kong

Seven Rings Cement’s mother organisation Shun Shing Group Hong Kong recently witnessed the appointment of a new additional managing director (AMD) for its Bangladesh operation.

The appointee, Tahmina Ahmed, has been serving the company as a board director since 2007, says a press release.

Shun Shing Group has been in business in Bangladesh for the last three decades.

It established three cement factories in Dhaka, Khulna and Chattagram to manufacture Seven Rings Cement. It can also produce about 150 million bags per year.

It has been reaching the farthest corners of Bangladesh and exporting to India through over 1,000 trade partners and its own fleet of transportation.
